Mr Umeed Khadka has a background in business development and a Bachelor’s degree in Arts. He has a long term experience in healthcare administration and and oversees all administrative functions at the Health Inequity and Resilience Research Institute, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations. Professional, detail-oriented, and highly organized, Umeed plays a key role in supporting the institute’s mission which is to advance health equity and resilience.
Prof. Arja R Aro is Professor of Public Health (Retired 2019), University of Southern Denmark (SDU). She also holds Title of Docent (Health Psychology), University of Turku, Finland. Her academic degree of PhD is from University of Turku, and DSc (Health Services Research) from Erasmus University Rotterdam (NIHES), The Netherlands. In addition, Prof. Aro is Licensed Psychologist, Finland.
Prof. Aro has extensive international experience in research, capacity building, program development and evaluation. She has also functioned in various advisor and mentor roles. Her research areas in public health, health promotion and health psychology cover quality of life, screening programs, women’s health, risk perception and health communication, evidence-informed policy making and research integrity. Her teaching experience comes from Denmark, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and Finland.
Prof. Aro has been principal investigator in REPOPA project (REsearch into POlicy to enhance Physical Activity | FP7 | CORDIS | European Commission), and co-researcher in e.g. CONFIDE project in Tunisia (https://confide.publichealth.ro/), Path2Integrity Horizon 2020 project (https://www.path2integrity.eu/), all funded by European Union. In addition, her research projects include topics such as participatory approach to increase physical activity in schools, and previously, best practice guideline development, breast cancer, prenatal and genetic screening.
Prof. Aro has published over 400 papers, including papers from Nepal. In her SDU position she taught and supervised MSc Public Health students from Nepal. Also at present, she is a co supervisor of a Nepali PhD student, whose thesis concerns human trafficking. In addition, she successfully collaborated with several Nepali teaching assistants in BSc programs in Saudi-Arabia. She also gave a workshop on health promotion at Kathmandu University in 2017.

Dr. Subash Thapa is a Senior Research Fellow at the Rural Health Research Institute, Charles Sturt University. With a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of Leuven, he specializes in global health and social epidemiology, focusing on mental health and well-being among vulnerable populations. He has contributed to international research across Nepal, Belgium, the US, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, with extensive fieldwork in rural and remote areas.
Dr. Thapa previously held academic and research roles at the University of Southern Denmark, where he led digital health projects in collaboration with King Saud University and taught global health policy. Chirag Dhakal Sahaj is an aspiring researcher with a background in statistics, economics and sociology. He holds a B.Sc. in Statistics and B.A. in Economics and Sociology from Tribhuvan University. His research interests span labour economics, econometrics, migration and economics of education. Chirag has interned at the Economic Research Department of Nepal Rastra Bank contributing to studies on remittance, aggregate demand and trade elasticity. His independent research has explored the impacts of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake on food security and the determinants of STEM major selection among students in Nepal, employing econometric and Bayesian methods.

Mr. Santosh Giri is currently undertaking a PhD on Child Mental Health at Rural Health Research Institute under the supervision of Dr Subash Thapa, with co-supervisors Dr Rachel Kornhaber (Charles Sturt University) and Dr Nancy Ross (Dalhousie University). Mohini Gupta is a Public Health Professional holding a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) from Yeti Health Science Academy (YHSA). Her academic work includes reports on District Health System Management in Chitwan and Community Health Diagnosis in Nuwakot, along with a published article on child marriage risk factors.
She has work experience volunteering at the Nepal Red Cross Society blood bank, working as a volunteer for One Step Ahead Foundation Kathmandu and Nymat Nepal’s End TB campaign, and serving as an enumerator for health surveys with Health and Development Society Nepal and the National Institute for Development and Research, including a survey related to the Western Nepal earthquake recovery.
Shambhu Jamarkattel holds a Bachelors in Public Health from Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences. He brings in experience as an intern at KOSHISH working on mental health related projects, and as a Data Enumerator for Mangalayan Foundation on UNICEF SQUEAC survey in Jhapa. He has been involved in different community centric health projects like Community Health Diagnosis and Municipal Health System Management.
Sobit Regmi is a Bachelor’s in Public Health graduate from Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences (TU IOM) with experience as an intern at the Nutrition Section of the Family Welfare Division of Department of Health Services, where he developed informative resources, engaged communities, and supervised the Vitamin A Supplementation Program. He has managed health projects including nutrition education for mothers in Chitwan, promoting the “MERO POSHAN SATHI” app, conducting an epidemiological study on CBIMNCI, and overseeing a growth monitoring project for under-5 children.
Binisha Kayastha holds a Bachelor’s in Public Health from Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences and has experience as a data transcriber at HERD Intl’, ensuring data accuracy and supporting research analysis. Binisha also interned at Community Rural Development Society (CRDS)-Nepal in Darchula, where she worked on health issues and managed a health project, and participated in a residential study field in Chitwan to understand Municipal Health System Management. She has volunteered for cervical cancer screening camps and blood pressure awareness campaigns.
Sarika Pal is a public health graduate from Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences. Her experience includes volunteering for COVID Connect, Kathmandu Recycles, Leo Club Milan, We for Nepal, and Team Nepo Bhaktapur. She has also participated in projects like May Measurement Month, Community Health Diagnosis (involving data analysis and a Micro Health Project), Municipal Health System Management, a practicum at CRDS Darchula, and worked as a Data Transcriber for R4R at HERD International.
Mobin Pandey is a Bachelor in Public Health graduate from Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences. He gained experience as a Research Intern at the Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children, where he drafted proposals, developed data tools, collected and analysed data using SPSS, and implemented a project to empower caregivers. Additionally, he participated in field data collection for a UNICEF-supported SQUEAC project and various academic health projects focusing on eye checkups, HFOMC orientation, and ASRH education.
Pashupati Yadav has a Bachelor of Public Health from Nepal Institute of Health Sciences along with a background as a Health Assistant. His work experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at Nepal Public Health Research Development Society, involving qualitative/quantitative data collection and transcription/translation, and as an Enumerator at Nepal Development Society (NeDS). He has volunteered with Nymat Nepal’s youth campaign to end TB and facilitated a program on antibiotic use awareness.
Puja Gurung is a public health graduate from Asian College For Advance Studies along with an additional background as a Health Assistant with a Diploma in General Medicine from Manmohan Memorial Institute Of Health Sciences. She has extensive experience working as a Health Assistant at Sumeru Hospital. Her academic fieldwork includes conducting a Community Health Diagnosis (CHD) in Nuwakot, involving various data collection methods and a Public Health Intervention, and a comprehensive public health management field study in Beni Municipality, analysing health systems and programs.
Punam Kumari Singh is an aspiring public health professional with a Bachelor in Public Health from National Open College. She has experience conducting research on the utilization of social health insurance in Dhanusha district and participated in fieldwork for District Health System Management in Sarlahi district, primary data collection for ICFP-I and II, and Community Health Diagnosis (CHD) in Dolakha district.
Rajiv Chaudhary is a public health graduate from National Academy for Medical Science, Purbanchal University. He has extensive experience as a Field Researcher and Enumerator on various projects for organizations like PHRD Nepal, PHASE Nepal, UNICEF, FHEN, and the National Statistics Office, utilizing tools like Kobo Collect and Zite Global for both quantitative and qualitative data collection (including FGDs and KIIs). His responsibilities included rapport building, coordination, accurate data collection, maintaining confidentiality, timely reporting, and assisting in data entry and report writing.
Amit Baral is a Public Health Practitioner and research enthusiast with a Bachelor’s in Public Health (BPH) from Purbanchal University. He has practical experience as an enumerator for ACF’s SMART plus Survey and NTAG’s project on wasting care, conducted thesis research on suicidal thoughts in youth, volunteered for dengue control and the 24-24 Youth Campaign to EndTB, and provided First Aid training.
Ashok Kapari is a committed public health professional focused on improving community health and addressing disparities through epidemiology and health education. He holds a PCL in General Health from Vinayak College of Health Science (2019) and a Bachelor’s in Public Health from Padmashree School of Public Health, Bangalore (2023). His experience includes working as an enumerator for Anweshan Pvt. Ltd., collecting data using Kobo Toolbox across Terai districts.
