Sex-Trafficking and Reintegration of the Survivors
Overview
Although Nepal ratified the Palermo Protocol in 2020, significant challenges remain in effectively reintegrating survivors of sex trafficking. This study provides an in-depth examination of the barriers and enabling factors that influence the reintegration process for survivors, based on perspectives from service providers and NGOs.
Objectives
- Identify social, legal, and structural barriers to reintegration.
- Explore survivors’ lived experiences with current reintegration services.
- Highlight opportunities for building survivor-centered, community-based reintegration models.
Study Sites
- Kathmandu Valley: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur
- Border districts: Jhapa, Banke, Kailali
- Trafficking return hubs: Birgunj, Nepalgunj
